Rolling Stones - Forty Licks (2002) Flac EAC peaSoup
[*] Forty Licks is a double compilation album by The Rolling Stones. A 40-year career-spanning retrospective, Forty Licks is notable for being the first retrospective to combine their formative Decca/London era of the 1960s, now licensed by ABKCO Records (on disc one), with their self-owned post-1970 material, distributed at the time by Virgin/EMI but now distributed by ABKCO's own distributor Universal Music Group (on mostly disc two). Four new songs are included on the second disc. Concurrently with the album's release, the Stones embarked on the successful, year-long international Licks Tour, which would result in Live Licks in 2004.
Originally distributed by Virgin Records in 2002, Forty Licks went out of print after Virgin parent EMI lost distribution of the Stones' post-1970 material to Universal Music in 2008.
All tracks are digital remasters in stereo, except for most tracks pre-1968, which are digital remasters in mono. (Pre-1968 tracks "It's All Over Now", "Under My Thumb" and "She's a Rainbow" are in stereo, but "Paint It, Black", "Ruby Tuesday" and "Let's Spend the Night Together" are not). Brixton Academy Soundboard Bootleg... sounds great.
"Recently announced as coming to CD and vinyl is the Rolling Stones triumphant Brixton Academy show from 1995. The CD will be a double disk version on the Rattlesnake label (RS 251 / 52) while the vinyl version appears on the Wonder Minnow label – the labels LP offshoot – as (WM 1008/3) as a deluxe vinyl boxed set. The show is advertised as coming from a soundboard. As we’ve no reason to doubt these facts, we’re already hot with anticipation."
Please Note Dead Flowers and Like A Rolling Stone have been omited because they are officially released on the “stripped” CD
"Flashpoint" is subtitled "Recorded Live 1989-90 Steel Wheels / Urban Jungle World Tour" and was originally released in 1991. Most true Stones fans will love this CD. It holds up favorably to other live recordings ("Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out", "Love You Live", "Still Life", "Live Licks", and "Stripped"). In fact, "Flashpoint" has some of the edginess of "Live Licks" and some of the laid back charm of "Stripped". Jagger, Richards, Wood, Wyman and Watts are backed up by the fabulous Bobby Keys on sax, plus other horns and 2 on keyboards. Some unknown dude named Eric Clapton ;-) plays guitar on "Little Red Rooster" (the only non-Jagger/Richards composition on the set). Collectors may want to consider the 2-CD deluxe version Flashpoint which includes "Everything Is Turning To Gold", "Fancy Man Blues", "Beat of Burden", and "Cook Cook Blues" (not to be confused with the rare and raw C.S. Blues), plus a bunch of disco-like remixes from 1978-89. Much of this material also appears on the recent mega-set The Complete Singles (1971-2006) [45 CDs] although in different configurations; several of the deluxe extras appear on Rarities 1971-2003.
The last Stones album in which cover material accounted for 50 percent of the content was thrown together from a variety of singles, British LP tracks, outtakes, and a cut from an early 1964 U.K. EP. Haphazard assembly aside, much of it’s great, including the huge hit “Get Off of My Cloud” and the controversial, string-laden acoustic ballad “As Tears Go By” (a Top Ten item in America). Raiding the R&B closet for the last time, they also offered a breathless run-through of Larry Williams’ “She Said Yeah,” a sultry Chuck Berry cover (“Talkin’ About You”), and exciting live versions of “Route 66″ and Hank Snow’s “I’m Moving On.” More importantly, Jagger-Richards’ songwriting partnership had now developed to the extent that several non-A-side tracks were reasonably strong in their own right, such as “I’m Free” and “The Singer Not the Song.” And the version of “You Better Move On” (which had been featured on a British EP at the beginning of 1964) was one of their best and most tender soul covers.

Blocked from release by the Stones - Rolling Stones Documentary by Robert Frank 1972 CS Blues.mp4

Blocked Rolling Stones documentary exposes the sadness behind fame
Nothing looms quite like something you can’t see, and in the 42 years since Robert Frank shot his vérité documentary account of the Rolling Stones’ North American tour of 1972, CS Blues has taken on the aura of a darkly magical and mysterious forbidden artifact. Blocked from release by the band, the film – by the renowned Beat-era Swiss still photographer who had designed the photo collage cover of Exile on Main St. – is possibly the most bootlegged, sought-after and, it now seems, misunderstood film in rock-movie history.
It is permitted only single screenings once a year in cities where the filmmaker has been present – although Frank, now 89, is not expected to appear at the Toronto screening, presented as part of the TIFF Cinematheque’s Free Screen series today at 6:30 p.m. at the Bell Lightbox. Captured with Frank’s deftly unobtrusive 16-millimetre camera, CS Blu

The Rolling Stones historic and triumphant return to Hyde Park was without doubt the event of the summer. Over 100,000 delirious fans of all ages packed into the park for two spectacular outdoor concerts to watch Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts and Ronnie Wood do what they do best. The Stones delivered a five star performance that had both fans and critics singing their praises. The set packed in hit after hit and saw the band joined by former guitarist Mick Taylor for a special guest appearance on two songs. This stunning concert film is the perfect way to celebrate the return of The Rolling Stones back where they truly belong: live on stage in their hometown.
